Domestic tourism sets new record in Russia

Domestic tourism flow in Russia amounted to around 50 million people in 2015, which is almost one third population of the country.

In a meeting on the development of domestic tourism in Sochi on January 5, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the potential for tourism development inside the country is huge, and that they should use all the possibilities which are opening for them in the tourism industry.

He opined that the accessibility of passenger shipments should be ensured, as it is probably the most difficult issue as what regards to civil aviation and railways.

Since the prices of fuel and leasing services, payments and the cost of bank credits continued growing, a proposal has been put forward to additionally support air carriers, which will operate on the most popular tourism routes.

Last year Russia set a record for the highest inflow of foreign tourist to the country. It is estimated that over 20 million people visited Russia last year.
