Ministry of Tourism plans to offer pre-loaded SIM cards to Intl Tourists on arrival

Tourist info line services in 12 foreign languages will begin from January 26 In order to provide convenient communication access to international tourists arriving in India, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is planning to offer a pre-loaded local SIM Card to foreign tourists along with the Incredible welcome kit. This will avoid the usual delay of getting a new SIM card and getting it activated. Tourists can use the SIM through their stay in India. A formal decision in this regard is believed to have arrived at during a meeting of the Union Ministers for Telecommunication, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Union Minister for Tourism, Dr Mahesh Sharma. ,  The Minister said that the Tourist info line services in 12 foreign languages will begin from January 26, 2016. All information required by foreign tourists will be made available in the language they want through this info line service.
