A delegation led by Kerala tourism minister A P Anil Kumar held
roadshows in California and participated in the New York Times Travel Fair. For
the one week journey which started on 7th January, he was
accompanied by a delegation comprising of chief secretary Jiji Thomson, tourism
secretary G. Kamalavardhana Rao and 10 industry stakeholders, in an effort to
boost tourism to the state, and also attract investment.
Kerala’s choice destinations and tourism products was showcased
and investment opportunities were presented to CEOs of selected multi-national
companies at Silicon Valley Corporation.
In 2014, Kerala attracted 77,616 U.S. visitors from the US, which
was followed by United Kingdom, France and Germany. It was 8.41 per cent of the
total foreign tourist arrivals.
In the same year, tourist arrivals from the United States to
India were 11,18,983 and the share of 14.57 per cent was the highest among the
10 top source countries of foreign tourist arrivals.
